Audacious is the UK’s only mobile service for people with hearing loss. After taking a simple online hearing test, the Sound Check, users can make and receive calls adapted to their hearing.

Audacious is the brain-child of Matthew Turner, who was born deaf. He began to develop the technology behind Audacious so that he could speak to his children on the phone. Which he found difficult and frustrating with a standard mobile.

The Uswitch Award is recognition for over 12 years of hard work by Matthew. With support from some of the world’s leading hearing scientists, to launch a medically certified mobile service in August 2019.

“I’m over the moon that all of our hard work is being recognised. The fact that Audacious picked up two awards, judged by a panel of Uswitch experts, is a testament to the technology and how much of a difference it can make. Especially when up against big names such as Samsung.”

Audacious has been working with Uswitch since launch, as it not only provides a superior mobile service for people with hearing loss, but also great deals on monthly SIM Only plansUswitch commissioned a user test of the Audacious service and the feedback was very clear.

“the Audacious SIM gives the best possible experience of making a phone call and honestly, it’s nothing short of life-changing. […] it’s given me the confidence to not only answer my phone when it rings, but to actually call people for a chat, which is something I’ve never felt able to do before.”
